Prefect Investiture Ceremony

“Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing other”. 

This year the annual Prefects' Investiture Ceremony was held on 9th December 2022 in Gurukula College, Kelaniya. The school proudly honoured the elected members with badges. The ceremony began at 9.00 a.m. with an inspiring speech by the school Principal Dr. Kusala Fernando. Dr. Sunil Jayantha Nawarathna, The Director General, National Institute of Education was invited as the Chief Guest of Honor to grace this important occasion of prefects awarding ceremony.

Human Library - Episode 01

 “One best book is equal to the hundred good friends, but One good friend is equal to a Library”.

First ever Human Library programme at Gurukula College, Kelaniya was conducted successfully with the participation of the fellow members of DBA Alumni of Kelaniya University (DBAAKU) on 27th October 2022. Dr. Dinesh Hamangoda (President of DBAAKU), Dr. Sanath Diwakara, Dr. Nuwan Wimalana, Dr. Nilan Miranda, Dr. Dilanjali Weerathunga, Dr. Chandi Wijessoriya, Dr. ranjan Dissabandara, Dr. Tharaka Punchibandara, and Dr. Anil Munasinghe were present at this historical event as Human Books.

Student Parliament

The inaugural session of the 2022 student parliament of Kelaniya Gurukula Vidyalaya was held on 14/10/2022 in the main hall of the college under the chairmanship of former Election Commissioner General Mahinda Deshapriya.

Gurukula College wins the 29th One-Day Cricket encounter between Gurukula College and Sri Dharmaloka College by 157 runs.

Formidable Gurukula College, Kelaniya are the firm favourties as they take on Dharmaloka College, with expectations of creating history in the 29th edition of the ‘Battle of Kelaniya’ Big Match which starts at the Keththarama Stadium on 12th September.
